Add A FavIcon To Your Website Or Blog – The Basics

coffee

I spend a lot of time educating and training people on computer applications.  Although I am a Technology Geek, the vast majority of the people I help with computer challenges are not.

The largest complaint I hear from people is that too much of the information they find online is difficult to understand, and takes for granted that they know how to perform actions with which they are not familiar.

This Challenge Ends Here at FavIconBlog.com.

The accessibility of the internet to non technology people is awesome.  Anyone can have a website or blog these days.  I want ALL users of web based technology to be able to experience and use the tools in order to make their online presence look professional.

Sure, some of the work is technical, but there is no reason NOT to make it understandable and usable to everyone.  Many parts of this site will deal with VERY BASIC concepts.  This will help get people educated who might be intimidated by the seemingly complex technology of web pages and blogs.  Once they realize that they CAN DO IT,  these users can confidently move onto more advanced concepts.

In my opinion the creation and deployment of the FavIcon is precisely one of these topics.

It is fun and easy to create your own FavIcon, now we need to get it working on your Site.  After you have created your FavIcon, I will walk you through the deployment process.

The 5 Basic Steps are as follows:

  1. Save your FavIcon to your local computer drive
  2. Re-name it to:  favicon.ico
  3. Upload it to the proper location on your hosting server
  4. Add the proper HTML code to your web page to insure it displays
  5. Sit back and Enjoy! – Or help others to get their own FavIcon

Important Note:
Installation of your FavIcon to your website or blog is pretty easy, but if everything is not done properly it will NOT work.  This site will help you with the Basics of FavIcon Installation.  Do not be afraid, there is a bit of HTML coding that we go through, but I know that YOU CAN DO IT!

In Conclusion –
Even though this is Basic information, even experienced Technology Users will benefit from this site.  FavIconBlog.com will be a place to send people that ask you questions about the FavIcon.

As an Educator I love the collaborative nature of the internet, and I welcome everyone to contact me via e-mail or through the comments section to correct my mistakes (yes I make them too) and help increase knowledge by sharing your experiences, tips and tricks.  We are all in this together, so lets start NOW.
