Creation, Deployment and Configuration of a FavIcon is not a difficult process, yet I still run across so many websites and blogs that do not have a FavIcon displayed in the address bar.
If I see a website without a FavIcon I generally send the webmaster a quick note and point to my Post on the Basics of the Favicon. This gets the information out to the people who need it.
All in all that is exactly what FavIconBlog.com is all about, getting the Word out and educating people. From the start of this Blog I have traveled the web and collected as much information as I could to help inform people on the what a Favicon is, and why they need one.![]()
My largest target audience of late has been people with blogs on Blogger.com. Blogger is a great way for people who are NOT Web Geeks to get a start in the Blogosphere. The Blogger platform is very user friendly, and it handles many of the details. This "do it all" apporach includes deploying a Favicon for the website.
There are a number of tutorials on how to deploy a favicon on a Blogger website, but many of them are now obsolete due to some changes Blogger has made to the default template. As I said before the workaround is not very difficult, just a bit tricky. My post How To Add A Custom FavIcon To Your Blog at Blogspot.com was created just for this purpose. I found much of the information out there just didn’t work anymore. I have been working hard to get my tutorial up in the search engine ranks so that Blog owners can successfully deploy their own custom favicon.
I am finding this to be a bit difficult, because SEO only works so well, and it is difficult to bump old well established results with newer information.
So I guess that if you are reading this, I encourage you to pass the word to others. I am working hard to keep FavIconBlog up with the most current information. If you see something change, or some method stops working, please let me know so that I can update and provide the BEST QUALITY information.
