How To Add A Favicon To Your Google Sites Website

FaviconBlog is the place to come to learn how to add a Favicon to your Blog or Website.  In this post we will explore how to add a custom favicon to your Google Sites Website.  This will be an addition to my Tutorials Section.

I have lots of requests on how to add a custom favicon to Blogger websites.  Recently I have been asked about putting a custom favicon on a Google Sites Website.  Google Sites is the Free Website offering from Google.  It used to be called Google Pages.

As with all favicon deployments, installing a custom favicon to your Google Sites website is not difficult just a bit tricky. Once you know how to do it you can tell all your friends and impress them with your favicon knowledge.  Just be sure to send them back here

This tutorial assumes that you already have a Google Sites Page, and a favicon.ico file ready to upload.  If not stop right now and get your free page.   If you need a favicon.ico file you can visit the Favicon Generator Script that I have available for your use.

On with the tutorial:

Here is a picture of the Default Favicon that you will get on your Google Sites page.

First of all log into your Google Sites Page, and in the upper right corner is the More actions Button.   Click on it and navigate to Manage Site.

Once you are in the Manage Site area, on the left hand side you will see the main menu, from it select Attachments.

In the Attachments window click the Upload button.  This will open the Upload Dialog Box.

Make sure the Upload attachment to / (top level) radio button is selected. (it is the default).
You can then browse to your favicon.ico file and click Upload.
You will get notification that the file was uploaded, and it will show in the Upload Window.

Success!

Now refresh your browser window and you should see your new custom Favicon.

I hope this tutorial was helpful.  Now you know how easy it is to add a custom favicon to your Google Sites Webpage.  There is no need to delay, get your image ready and stop by my Favicon Generator and make your own custom favicon.

Please leave any comments or suggestions you have for this tutorial in the comments section.  I am always looking on ways to improve FaviconBlog.com and appreciate the feedback.  Let me know about your favicon deployment and how it worked for you.

As always let me know if there is another tutorial you would like to see added to the Tutorials Section.
