I find it interesting that many Internet savvy people when asked if they have a favicon on their blog or website respond.
“What is a Favicon?”
This simple question and the quest to answer it has led me to create FaviconBlog.com.
My Blog TheTeachingBox.com is a site dedicated to education and technology. I consider this to be an extension website dedicated to teach and educate on this single topic of the Favicon.
An entire site for this simple task you may ask?
I saw a need for a One-Stop-Shop and wish to fill it, so here is my attempt.
We look at Favicons (Short for Favorite Icon) every day as we surf the Internet, but many people still do not realize what these little pictures in the address bar of the browser are actually called. My goal is to provide information in order to educate everyone that has a blog or website that does not have a favicon. I want to provide:
- Education on the Favicon
- Why you should have a Favicon
- How to make your own Favicon
- How to properly install a Favicon on your website
I have started by purchasing and installing a Script to enable you to create a Favicon from a gif, jpg or png image. Feel free to start experimenting HERE. There is also a button in the sidebar.
Even if you already have a Favicon, I want this website to be a resource that you can point people to for the necessary information. I believe that collaboration is a big part of teaching and education, so I welcome feedback and comments on how to make this website useful for everyone. We are in this together, so lets get started!
